The BLM-F has run health projects since 1984. The main objective is to improve the health of rural communities, in line with the national plan, by providing preventive and primary health care in the target areas. 

Outputs and Main Activities

Leadership and life-skills training provided for adolescents (incl. SRHR and advocacy) through adolescent groups and clubs, Adolescents in vulnerable situations (risk of early marriage, disabled) supported with education stipend, vocational training or other suitable income-generating activity, Parents’ groups formed and trainings conducted (gender, SRHR and disability), Workshops for men/boys in communities to develop a plan/code of conduct honouring the value and safety of women/girls, Community Development Partnership Committees (CDPCs) started and trained, Trainings on adolescent sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR) and disability for secondary school teachers, community health workers, project staff and partners (e.g. DPO), SRH services provided especially for married girls and Initiatives to enhance accessibility to Community Clinics especially for girls and women with disabilities

A new project named Adolescent Reproductive Health is approved and supported by MFA in Finland. This project has begun in 2021. 

Community Action for Health and Safety Project (CAHS)

BLM-F has run health projects since 1984. The main objective is to improve the health of village people, in line with the national plan, by providing preventive and primary health care in the rural area.

The activities are first aid training and materials, community initiatives for safety, teaching on accident prevention and anger management, improving rural Health Services, capacity building village doctors and CBAs, Antenatal & Postnatal care, Ambulant laboratory services for pregnant mothers, medicine support to poorest patients and free medicine support to poorest pregnant mothers. There were a total of  30940 beneficiaries in 2020.

This project was supported by private donations through the Finnish Lutheran Overseas Mission.
